MACO Education Program
MACO has an affiliation with Century College for our education program. Century College works with MACO to provide and/or approve speakers for educational sessions. They track hours for members who wish to have their credits tracked. MACO members & their staff need to register & pay the tracking fee annually. A registration form will be provided annually, and includes an invoice which can be turned into the county for payment. The registration & fees will be sent to the MACO treasurer with a deadline of around December 1 of each year. Registration will also be offered mid-year for those who did not sign up at the beginning of the year.
Conferences which will offer eligible sessions are the MACO winter, MCRA summer, and MACATFO summer conferences. At each conference a form will be provided to be submitted to Century College indicating sessions attended.
Forty five hours of approved Education is required for certification. Forty hours in a 4 year period is required to be re-certified.
Process to become certified or re-certified.
Individuals need to contact Sharon Mason (Sharon.Mason@century.edu) to obtain a copy of their transcript which will indicate the number of hours that have been tracked. Only the actual member can request their transcripts. When a member has the required number of hours, they can submit a copy of their transcripts to the MACO Education Chairperson. Certificates will be issued each year at the MACO Conference. Deadline to submit is December 31 of each year.
The mission of the MACO Education Committee is to facilitate the MACO Education Program with Century College and MACO members to ensure MACO members have the opportunity to receive the training they need to accomplish their responsibilities in their positions as county officials. This training is usually very job specific but also includes leadership and related topics to county government.
