Verify residency and marital status
HelloHello, and greetings to all:

We have a gentleman who has requested a certified letter from this department that states we have no record of a marriage for him filed here in Carlton County.

AND that he is a resident of Carlton County.

Does anyone know of any statute that requires us to provide such documents for this gentleman?  He is getting married abroad and this is what that nation wants him to provide.

Thanks,

Kris

We offer a verification confirmation, but it does not indicate which County the person resides in. We have been using the same letter for years as we get about a half dozen people a year requesting it for when they get married abroad. So far not one has returned to let us know it won't work for their purposes.

Could you recite a statute that allows us to do so?

We use a Certification of No Record Found Form that is generated out of MOMS. I will email it to you.

We had one that required proof of residency. We issued a certified copy of the warranty deed and they went over to the Auditor/Treasurer to get a current property tax statement. Neither office has a form for residency.

Thank you all for your help - this is quite a different request.
